The canvassing of votes for president and vice president was sped up Thursday after it was disclosed that Filipinos in 40 countries did not participate in the overseas absentee voting (OAV).
As of posting time, only three more certificates of canvass (COCs) — from Davao City, Bacolod City and Mountain Province — are left to be canvassed, according to Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri.
Zubiri said the estimated number of votes cast in these areas is less than a million: Davao 582,236; Bacolod 205,208; and Mt. Province 74,791.
Zubiri added that no COCs need to be counted from 40 countries as the Department of Foreign Affairs reported last May 31 that no votes were cast in the following OAV locations:

6. Cameroon
7. Central African Republic
8. Cote D’Ivorire
9. Equatorial Guinea
10. Gabon
