ABS-CBN and TV5 wins at the 16th Asian TV Awards

From 7 nominations garnered by the Philippines from the 16th Asian Television Awards, ABS-CBN and TV5 won 1 trophy each.

The two awards won by the Philippines from the recently-concluded Asian Television Awards came from the Kapamilya and the Kapatid Network.
ABS-CBN’s weekly talk show “The Bottomline with Boy Abunda” took home the trophy for Best Talk Show. It bested “Bola @ Mamak” from Malaysia, “The Euthanasia Debate” from India, “It’s A Small World 2″ from Singapore, CNN’s “Talk Asia” from Hong Kong and “Being Gay: The Parents’ Story” from India.
TV5, on the other hand, won the technical award for Best Theme Song courtesy of Boy Christopher Ramos‘ “Ito Ang Buhay ko” for the drama antology Star Confessions. It bested 3 nominees from Malaysia and 1 from Singapore.

Here are the other nominations garnered by the Philippines for this year’s Asian Television Award but failed to win:
Best General Entertainment:
Talentadong Pinoy (TV5)
Best Comedy Programme:
Lokomoko (TV5)
Best Supporting Actress:
Angel Aquino for “Magkaribal” (ABS-CBN)
Best General Entertainment:
Mind Master (GMA-7)
Best Comedy Performance by an Actor:
Michael V. for “Pepito Manaloto” (GMA-7)
Last year, the Philippine contingent went home empty handed despite its 7 nominations. This year, we got 7 nominations and two of them emerged as winners.
