GMA Network won awards for its TV and radio programs in the recently-concluded 32nd Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA) held at the University of Santo Tomas.
The network’s late-night news program Saksi: Liga ng Katotohanan, anchored by Arnold Clavio and Vicky Morales, was named Best News Program while the longest-running morning show Unang Hirit bagged the Best Public Service TV Program award.
Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho, hosted by Jessica Soho, earned the award for Best Adult Educational & Cultural Program. The show also received the Best News Magazine special citation trophy.
Kandidato, the network’s 10-part special which featured candidates in the 2010 Philippine presidential elections in a job-interview fashion, won the Best Talk Show award.
Q-11’s Sweet Life, hosted by Lucy Torres-Gomez and Iza Calzado, on the other hand, brought home this year’s Best Entertainment Program award.
Meanwhile, GMA7’s Panata sa Bayan and Bangon received the Best Secular Song and Best Music Video awards, respectively. Panata sa Bayan is a song and music video which reaffirms GMA News and Public Affairs’ commitment to serbisyong totoo while Bangon is a special music video which features the resilience and unity of Filipinos reflected in the news coverage of GMA 7 during the onslaught of Typhoon Ondoy.
GMA Network also received special citations in different categories. Pasalove, the 2009 Christmas Station ID, earned the special citation for the Best Station ID category.
Pepito Manaloto, the first-ever reality sitcom led by Michael V, received the special citation for Best Comedy while Mel & Joey, led by Mel Tiangco and Joey de Leon, earned the special citation for Best Talk Show.
24Oras and Balitang Bisdak, GMA Cebu’s early primetime news program, both received special citations for Best News Program.
Planet Philippines, a special environmental documentary hosted by Richard Gutierrez, received the special citation for Best Adult Educational Program while Art Angel earned the special citation for Children and Youth Program. Reporter’s Notebook received the special citation for Best Special Event Coverage category; and Amianan Agenda, GMA Network’s special elections public affairs program in Dagupan won the special citation for Best in Public Service TV Program.
Completing GMA Network’s CMMA honors was DZBB’s Nagmamahal, Manay Gina, which was elevated to one of CMMA’s Hall of Fame recipients after winning in the same category several times.
