SINULOG 2009 A GRANDIOUS SUCCESS!
Last January 18,Sunday,a colorful Sinulog grand parade was held in the Queen City of the South.
Some 2.1 million people,including Cebuanos watch this grand parade with a huge number of tourists,including Japanese,Chinese,and Koreans.
Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia,a mainstay for a dance parade for 5 consecutive Sinulog festivals leading the dance troupe.
Some senators and their celebrities attend in this parade:These are Sens.Bong Revilla,Chiz Escudero,Migz Zubiri,Tacloban City councilor Cristina Gonzales-Romualdez,as well as Kapamilyan Anne Curtis,and Kapuso stars Marian Rivera,Richard Gutierrez,and KC Concepcion.
Last weekend,Kapuso comedian and actor Wendell Ramos,together with fellow Survivor Pinoy Sole Survivor JC Tiuseco,and fellow castaways Nikki Dacullo and Jace Flores of Luna Mystica show this singing and hosting prowesses at the SM City in Cebu.Banana Split stars Roxanne Guinoo,Cristine Reyes,and Angelica Panganiban for a Kapamilya tour,while dancing king Vhong Navarro and John Lloyd Cruz together with Pokwang and Pooh for a comedy show at the Waterfront Hotel.
Tangub City-based Tribu Sinanduloy retains title,but lost to real Lumad Basakanon tribe in this city.
Buyoganon tribe of non-Visayan Waray speaking town of Leyte won as first prize in the FI category
Carmen,Cebu is third placer
Lanao del Norte province is fourth,and predominantly Waray-speaking Dulag is 5th placer.

Last Christmas,President Arroyo signed Proclamation 1699,setting the dates of regular and special non-working days for this year as announced.
The April 9 celebration of Araw ng Bataan at Corregidor(formerly Kagitingan Day);moved to Monday,April 6,as stipulated by Republic Act 9492,which rationalizes the celebration of national holidays moving to a nearest Monday.
April 9 and 10,falls on a Easter weekend until Easter Sunday,May 1,Labor Day,June 12,Kalayaan Day,August 31,National Heroes Day,November 30,Bonifacio Day,December 25,Christmas,and December 30,Rizal Day.
Special non-working days are the following dates:Ninoy Aquino Day falls on August 21,All Saints Day is on November 1,and Last Day of the Year is on December 31.
Additional special non-working days is on November 2 and December 24 this year.
Meanwhile,the national holiday for the Eid’l Fit’r or Feast of Ramadan will be held based on the Islamic astronomical calculations.
