A group of vibrant and dynamic entertainment scribes makes up the list of newly-elected officers who will run the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC,) an organization of active local showbiz journalists, this 2009.
Elected president is entertainment writer-columnist, Roldan F. Castro, who is serving his first-year term as PMPC prexy.
Also serving their first-year terms with the club, in their respective elected posts are: Melba Llanera
(vice-president,) Jose "Boy" Romero (treasurer) and Aaron Domingo (auditor)
As secretary, colleague Mell Navarro has been re-elected for the position and is to serve his fourth consecutive term this year. Ditto William Reyes, as Press Relations Officer (PRO,) on his second year-term.
Appointees Mildred Bacud (asst. secretary) and Jimi Escala (asst. treasurer,) who makes a comeback to the PMPC board, completes the line-up, with the seven-man PMPC Board of Directors consisting of: former PMPC Presidents Joe Barrameda and Fernan De Guzman, Rodel Fernando, Robert Pangis, Sandy Es Mariano, John Fontanilla and Rommel Galapon, former VP of the club.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Roldan Castro expressed optimism that things would turn out well for the PMPC this year.
"With your help and support, and full cooperation, we can get all things done right - all for the betterment of the club," Castro said.
With the new set of officers elected, the Board then decides on certain committees with the members and officers-in-charge to get on with the multi-tasks for the various club projects lined-up, starting with the annual PMPC Star Awards for Movies ‘09 which promises to be something really big and exciting, as it turns silver (25th) this year.
