6th Gusi Peace Prize Awards 2008

The annual Gusi International Peace Prize Awards was held last night at the Meralco Theater in Ortigas, Mandalayong City.

A total of 15 laureates from different fields of excellence were given recognition in their exemplenary contributions to peace and human rights, politics, academe, religion, business, scientific discoveries, medicine, literture, journalism physics, chemistry, performing arts and other fields of endeavors.

The Chairman of the Board, Mr. Barry Gusi and his wife Evelyn welcomes all the awardees as well as the other dignitary and celebrity guests and members of the press with a cocktail dinner at the lobby of the venue.

This year laureates are the following:

Vice President Tritan Shehu for Healtcare from Albania, Dr. Henry Lee for crime legislation from Taiwan, Cong. Gus Bilirakis for legislation from USA, Dr. James newton Boss for scientific research from Singapore, Mr. Rolf Schwind for laser industry from Germany, Mr. Antonio S. Lopez for journalism from the Philippines, Mr. kevin Kwan for agriculture and research from Hong Kong, Hon. George Tasou MP for environmental protection and agriculture from Cyprus, Dr. Harold Lindsay Thompson for medicine from Australia, Hon. Panos Panagiotopoulos for public service from Greece, Hon. Rosario P. Uriarte for social service from the Philippines, Dr. Dan Zoltan Reinstein for medine from UK, Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Haji Mulia for legislation from Malaysia, Dr. Cosme Naval for medicine from the Philippines and Dr. Chares Njonjo for philantrophy from Kenya.

Adding excitement at the last night awarding ceremonies were the presence of two most beautiful married women in the world. The reigning Mrs Philippines World 2008 Ms. Eimee Edralin Cragun, she was a presentor to one of the laureates this year. Wearing a lavander sequined terno designed by fashion czar Mr. Pitoy Moreno, Ms. Cragun was indeed a delight to many photographers at the last night ceremony. We also learned that she represented the Philippines in the Mrs. World Beauty Pageant in Kaliningrad, Russia last June. She was voted as the most elegant candidate and was emerged as one of the Top Ten finalists. Another beauty mom is Melanie Marquez who also acts as presentor. Ms. Marquez competed in Mrs. World in India few years back and a also a former Miss International.

Providing entertainment last night were the world renowned Bayanihan Dancers, soprano Pinky Marquez and former Gusi awardee Katya Grineva, a pianist from Russia.

Incumbent President of Gusi, Hon. Manuel L. Morato gave a heartfelt speech to all attendees while guest of honor Executive Secretary of the State Eduardo Ermita read a message of congratulatory to tye organizers of Gusi and to all 2008 laureates from the Prseident of the Philippines Gloria Macapagal Arroyo who is currently in Lima Peru for the APEC Summit.
