Democrat leader Abhisit Vejjajiva becomes Thailand's 27th Prime Minister on Monday morning as the Parliament convened its extraordinary session to elect the new premier.
Voting result showed Mr Abhisit received 235 votes while his rival Puea Pandin leader Pracha Promnok received 198 votes.
There were 436 MPs eligible to elect the new premier. Three have abstained their votes.
